Claremont, NH – November 2014
Our team systematically assessed the trails within Moody Park and reported the existing conditions, required maintenance, potential for improvement, and our recommendations for changes in trail layout, design, and usage to better suit a variety of user groups. We identified, classified, and categorized existing trails, identify vulnerable areas, and suggested improvements to maximize the sustainability of the trails.
We worked closely with the City of Claremont Parks and Recreation representatives to organize our approach in a way that achieved the goals and objectives laid out in the Forest Management Plan and their direct application to the Moody Park Maintenance Management Plan development. Additionally, we held two public forums to both elicit public input and present our findings and recommendations.
The outcome consisted of a Trail Maintenance Management Plan including a written report of the existing trail conditions, design parameters, associated maintenance levels, and recommended maintenance activities for each segment of trail. The Plan outlines the recommended maintenance prescriptions including cost and time estimates. Also included are recommendations for signage, educational infrastructure, and design for ADA compliant accessible trail sections within the park. We will also create a Maintenance Map to indicate current use, trail conditions, areas requiring maintenance and/or modification, and any proposed trail relocations/design.Share
